When I found out that I was headed back to Montana, I remembered my friend that was going to have a baby just weeks before my arrival. I was beyond excited to know that I would be taking some in home family newborn session photos. I love when I get to be apart of my friends most important memories. Nothing thrills me more than their trust for capturing their forever memories. A Montana family photography session was just the thing to start off my time in that wonderful state I still call home.

We set up shop in the master bedroom. It is amazing how you can take a little space and make it work for so many different shots. This is something I have been learning a lot about over the last year. Part of me used to think I needed lots of space with mountains of options for different backgrounds and such. Really, you can make anything work and this bedroom was set up so wonderfully. It made for the perfect amount of light coming in and overall the best location for this session.
It is so much fun to see my friends loving on their kids and watching them become parents. The love they have for their kids makes me want to capture all the beautiful moments. When a dad gets a chance to tickle his daughter and make her laugh, it makes for the best genuine photos. I highly suggest to add tickles to your family session, throwing your littles up in the air or any games you might play with them regularly. Whatever you can do to make your kids comfortable is the best. It isn’t about looking straight at the camera and giving a fake smile. It’s all about capturing your family for who they are and what two year old just sits still in front of a camera? None. But newborns can and that made for the rest of these pictures.
I might be a little biased, but I sure do love how they all turned out. Take a look.
